Comments, Questions and Answers

Expand/CollapseGeneral Feedback

11-Oct-2008 B: Is this laptop suitable to run design packages such as Illustrator and Photoshop?

SteveF: Yes it is.

21-Oct-2008 Esuna: Does this have the 64-bit version of Windows or the 32-bit version? I would assume it would be 64 as it has 4gb of RAM?

Matt: It will be 32 bit I am sure, as it doesnt say anywhere and it would if it was 64 bit.

23-Oct-2008 dazza: can i use a bluetooth usb with this laptp

Matt: Yes.

24-Oct-2008 DC: Does the Blu Ray BD-ROM drive burn DVD's and CD's?

peterh: Yes, this is a combo drive that reads Blu-Ray and writes do DVDs and CDs.

26-Oct-2008 Gordon: Does the laptop have an HDMI slot?

Matt: Yes.

30-Oct-2008 Ed: I am a gamer, vidio editer and a worker, will this laptop suit all my needs, i want to be able to play the following Games, CoD4, Spore and CnC3, will this laptop run them? And how fast is the spin speed of the Hard Drice, if its 5400RPM can i pay extra for a 7200RM disk of the same size?

SteveF: yes it will play those games. The HDD is 5400 and is fixed so we can't upgrade it unfortunately.

1-Nov-2008 Oli: How is the 'ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470' graphics card on this for playing games like World of warcraft? It looks a good laptop with the 4gb and 250gb + the 2GHZ

SteveF: It is a very good laptop and has a fairly decent graphics card which is best suited for casual gamers. Demanding games like Crysis run only with very low details and resolution

2-Nov-2008 chris: does this have a firewire input? what other inputs does it have? thanks, chris

Matt: It does have Firewire, until we get a more detailed technical specification for it, you can see more details for it onAcer's website at: www.acer.co.uk

2-Nov-2008 Bday: Does it come with a webcam and reasonably good speakers for music?

Matt: It does have a webcam, but I'm not sure about the speakers, I would output the sound to external speakers if you want decent quality and volume for music.

4-Nov-2008 Darren: Hi. Does this have a tv out as i would use the laptop to watch dvd's.

SteveF: Yes it does.

6-Nov-2008 julesnorthampton: bit confused here as other websites do NOT show this item as having integrated webcam/microphone etc for VOIP but show the 5920 lx aqbox 611 as being equipped. as this facility is a prerequist of mine to be on my next purchase, which is imminent, can you please clarify?

Matt: We get our info from the manufacturers themselves, and they say it does. :) You can find the same information on their website too at www.acer.co.uk

8-Nov-2008 mlk: can you watch other types of dvd other than blu-ray on this laptop, if so which?

Matt: Yes, you canplay normal DVDs too including dual layer and DVD-RAM discs.

10-Nov-2008 B Kennett: The product summary refers to a Radeon 3470 graphics card; the technical spec on the other hand refers to an Intel GMA X3100. Which is it??

SteveF: Its a Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100. Sorry for the typo, this has been amended now.

11-Nov-2008 Bayes: how long it is battery life after full charge

SteveF: About 2-3 hours on that model.

14-Nov-2008 T-mas: Not sure about power needed when it comes to programs - I usually just use my Desktop PC, but I'm going to have to buy a laptop to keep up with my studies. Will this laptop be able to run the music software 'Cubase' (Steinberg) and 'Reason' (propeller head) at the same time? And will the sound card be good enough for me to use hardware such as the 'guitarport' or a USB (musical) keyboard? Thanks very much

SteveF: This laptop is powerful enough to run Cuebase and reason but as with all laptop sound cards, it isn't good enough for music production in general, the latency when playing Usb keyboards for instance is noticeable so you'd be better buying an external soundcard.

14-Nov-2008 heath: do I need the 17 or 15.4" bag for this if I choose an all-in extended warranty option?

david s: 15.4

14-Nov-2008 Yorky: Does this lap top come with Microsoft word excell etc or is this extra? How much extra?

david s: This would be extra from £79.97

15-Nov-2008 Mark: Can you confirm that installed memory is 4GB as Acer website states 2*1GB. Description re graphics is conflicting as in tech. spec. states ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 but Product Summary states Intel media accelerator X3100. Please can you confirm which are correct. Many thanks.

David J: This model comes with 4GB RAM and a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470

15-Nov-2008 linda: does the acer have conectivity to tv screen

david s: yes

16-Nov-2008 Cian: It's ambiguous what type of graphics card this machine has: The product summary says both Radeon 3470 graphics card ("While the 15.4' widescreen display, Radeon 3470 graphics card and Dolby HD audio make for crystal clear visuals and striking sound quality.") as well as the x3100 (" Graphics - Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100) The tech specs say "Video Video Output / Graphics Processor / Vendor ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470" Which is correct as there is fair amount of difference between the two.

David J: This laptop has a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 graphics card inside it.

16-Nov-2008 toby: does this laptop run programs such as micro soft word and publisher, and also is it capable of runing wireless internet?

david s: yes this will run microsoft office which we have available here from £79.97 and it is also wireless

17-Nov-2008 remo: Does the Blueray drive write to CD, DVD+R, DVD-R etc??

David J: Yes this will write to DVD and CD.

18-Nov-2008 seventy3: NEEDING TO UPGRADE OLD ACER,WILL THIS MODEL BE ABLE TO RUN GAMES LIKE FOOTBALL MANAGER 2009?

david s: yes

19-Nov-2008 GMAN112: DOES THIS SYSTEM DEFINETLEY HAVE A RADEON HD3470

peterh: Yes, according to acer.co.uk

21-Nov-2008 Tony: Is this laptop WiFi enabled?

David J: Yes this laptop is WiFi enabled

22-Nov-2008 Kingbrit: In you comments questions and answers section you answer questions stating it has a Radeon Mobility graphics card in the laptop, but you also answer saying it has Intel graphics, can we have a final answer to this that is definitely correct please?

Matt: It is Intel graphics, the one with Radeon graphics has a part code ending in 611

23-Nov-2008 Yorky: How much would it be to get Word and excell etc on the lap top and how is this done do you recieve a CD or are the programs added by you?

david s: You would get this on a cd and from £70 approx depending on applications required.

24-Nov-2008 taimoor: question can you add a bluetooth feature in it on the request of the buyer and how much would it cost?

david s: unfortunatly not know the only thing you could do it attatch a bluetooth dongle

24-Nov-2008 how r the graphics?: i like to play loads of diffent games and i was wondering if the graphics card was as good as an nvidea geforce 3 or something like that.

SteveF: i'd be looking at something like the Nvidea 9000 series or ATi Hd cards with at least 256mb of dedicated memory.

25-Nov-2008 sean-a: Hi, I understand that this laptop runs 4gb RAM, but only 32 bit windows vista. i've been told this means it wont run properly as 32 bit means a 2gb ram cap? please correct me if im mistaken, as overall this seems to be a great package.

Matt: 32 bit operating systems cant use the full 4GB of RAM, but they can use a lot more than 2GB. It varies from one system to the next but you should see somewhere between 2.8GB and 3.5GB of usable memory. In some cases, the memory that is inaccessible to the operating system could still be used for something else behind the scenes so might not necessarily just sit there doing nothing. It's all a bit complicated though.

26-Nov-2008 Jamie: Does this laptop have enough capacity to run movie editing software?

SteveF: I would suggest looking for something with a dedicated graphics card of at least 256MB of ram. This laptop does have 4GB RAM which is really good video editing but it still might struggle as the Intel x3100 is a basic graphics card.

29-Nov-2008 Ghausi: how does the Intel x3100 fare with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470? and is it possible to get the radeon as an add-on inplace of the intel x3100? if so how much would it cost? Thanks!

david s: ATi is way better as has dedicated graphics. and a upgrade isn't possible unfortunatly

1-Dec-2008 che2x: is this product compatible with cubase SX, vienna, adobe premieres, after effects and 3D softwares? does it crash down when there are too much 3D graphics on the screen?

SteveF: It is compatible with those programs but it has a integrated graphics card so will probably bust a gut trying to do anything too complicated graphically. Look for something with a dedicated graphics card of at least 256mb if its going to be used for 3D work.

1-Dec-2008 che2x: if i buy this laptop can i pay monthly? if so, can u pls tell me how it works... thank u...

David J: Unfortunately we do not offer any kind of finance at present

1-Dec-2008 aking: What suitable Docking satations are available?

SteveF: Please give our sales team a call for compatible models.

3-Dec-2008 ghausi: is this laptop good enough to play games like NFS Underground ,call of duty 4 etc. I am confused between this laptop and 611 version what would you recommend.I will use Laptop primarily for games

SteveF: This ones good if you want blu-ray playback. The other model is good if you want to play games.

3-Dec-2008 Hades: Will the computer give me an option to create recovery disks when I first power it on? If I dont buy the extra discs, there shouldn't be any problems right?

SteveF: We would usually recommend getting a recovery disc with the laptop as it can save problems although you should have the option to make one when you first boot the laptop up.

4-Dec-2008 ghausi: can we attach an an external high quality graphics card in this laptop in the express card slot ? thanx

David J: This laptop already has a good dedicated graphics card built in

16-Dec-2008 Brian: What graphics card does this laptop have?

Matt: It has the integrated X3100 with shared system memory.

17-Dec-2008 Nitibob: For the model LX.AQBOX.611, can you confirm the graphics card

SteveF: Yes its a ATI Mobility RadeonTM HD 3470.

30-Dec-2008 Loz: I've looked at the questions and answers and there are mixed replies about this has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470. If it doesn't can you suggest a laptop with one and a blu-ray drive.

peterh: According to Acers official spec sheet on acer.co.uk, this laptop does indeed feature an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470.

31-Dec-2008 jodie: Which is the best wireless adaptor for this laptop?

SteveF: It already has wireless built in so you just need a wireless router and broadband connected of course!

1-Jan-2009 gmac: Hi - I'm afraid I'm still confused as to the spec of this product - you have said above that the model ending in 611 has no blu ray but has the ATI Graphics while the model ending in 612 has blu ray but the intel graphics. On looking at the Acer site at the spec for the 612 model - it is listed as AS5920G-6A4G25Bi LX.AQB0X.612 Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium, Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5750 (2.0 GHz, 667MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache), 15.4" WXGA Acer CrystalBrite™ LCD TFT, 2*2GB RAM, 250GB 5400rpm 5400 Hard Disk Drive, Blu-Ray / 8X DVD-Super Multi double-layer drive, ATI Mobility RadeonTM HD 3470, Intel® PRO/wireless 3945ABG network connection (dual-band tri-mode 802.11a/b/g), 6 cell Li-ion Battery, 5 in 1 card reader (SD), (MMC), (MS), (MS PRO), (XD), 0.3 MP Crystal Eye Webcam - which shows both blu ray and the ATI Graphics. Can you please confirm what it is that you are selling under this model number as I would b

SteveF: Yes, there is a blu-ray drive as we specified on the 612 model and yes it has a ATI graphics card to handle the blu-ray aspect but this is integrated and has no memory specifically for the graphics whereas the other model does.

1-Jan-2009 Yas: My current laptop sounds like a vacume cleaner whenever it is doing something work intensive i.e playing a dvd etc. How noisy is this laptop?

peterh: This laptop is very quiet, even at full load. At idle, it is around 31 decibels. At full load, it is only 38 decibels. The DVD drive is also very quiet at full speed, also just 38 decibels.

4-Jan-2009 Arun: You really have to put this graphics card question to rest. 1. Your "product summary" says its an "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470" 2. Your "technical specification" says its an "Intel GMA X3100" 3. acer.co.uk says its an "ATI Mobility RadeonTM HD 3470" Now what do I believe? Can you please correct what is wrong and let every one have a common understanding. I am really looking to buy this laptop, only when you have corrected.

david s: it is the ati radeon HD 3470

5-Jan-2009 Lesley: Can this product run Marratech Software for video conferencing? I will need to use Marratech remotely without access to landline broadband. Is the wireless wifi spec powerful enough to do so at a good enough speed (outside factors excluded)? What add ons/dongles if any do I need for this?

SteveF: Yes it is, The wifi is standard so there's nothing that will speed it up as far as the laptop is concerned but the more you pay for your broadband line, the quicker the line is.
