SteveF: This dock will work with all acer laptops that can connect to USB and yes it has an adapter for the power lead.

2-Dec-2008 Rico: thanks for your answer steve. however i'm not clear on what you mean by the adapter for the power lead. i need something that won't provide power or charge the battery through the normal power in socket, since mine's broken. does it do that? if not, are there other docks that do?

SteveF: Yes.

3-Dec-2008 Mart: Does a port replicator allow the laptop to be run as normal but with the lid closed while making use of an external keyboard and screen?

SteveF: A port replicator is just that. An extra set of ports to use. Using an external monitor will stay the same as if you were using it without the port replicator.

4-Dec-2008 Mark: The socket for the charger cable has broken on my laptop. Will this product charge and power the laptop through the USB connection?

SteveF: It will charge it through the connection point.

9-Dec-2008 Rumen: Is USB 2.0 PORT REPLICATOR compatible with Ferrari 1000? Does it come with additional power adaptor or it is supposed to work with laptop's one?

SteveF: Yes, the dock is compatible with all Acers with a USB port. No charging facility on that one though.

SteveF: No, you still need to open the laptop lid.
